Tidewater Engineering Solutions was founded in 2019 by Ian W. Reed, P.E. to provide structural engineering services and consultations to the local construction industry. Ian is a life long resident of Virginia Beach where he attended Frank W. Cox High School and later obtained his Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering Degree from Old Dominion University. Prior to attending ODU Ian was a carpenter for a local custom home builder where he learned the finer points of building wood framed structures, concrete construction and customer satisfaction. Following graduation from ODU Ian worked as a Design Engineer for Sinclair, Pratt, Cameron where he utilized the 40+ years of experience at the firm to enhance his hands-on experience and develop a unique perspective to structural engineering. In 2019, Ian left Sinclair, Pratt, Cameron to seek a career as a Structural Engineer for Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) where he designed and managed multi-million dollar projects over-seas and locally. While his Navy career helped him sharpen his skills as a structural design engineer and project manager, his passion for residential construction led him to the creation of Tidewater Engineering Solutions.
